Tartar Sauce - Dirty-style

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Mayonnaise
  • cup Dill pickles Finely chopped
  • ¼ cup Dill pickles Roughly chopped for larger pieces
  • ½ cup Shallot Finely diced
  • ½ cup Dill - including stems Rough chop
  • 1 ½ tbsp Capers Rough chop
  • 1 tsp Grainy mustard
  • 1 clove Garlic Minced or microplaned
  • 1 tsp Lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp Pickle juice
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • Salt & Pepper To taste

Equipment

  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 Mixing spoon
  • 1 Microplane optional

Method
 

  1. Prep everything first: chop, dice, and measure all ingredients.
  2. Add all ingredients to a bowl.
  3. Mix until fully combined.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or a bit more lemon juice if needed.
  5. Let sit for at least 15–20 minutes before serving to allow flavors to come together.
  6. The mix of fine and rough chopped pickles gives it texture.
    Gets better after a few hours in the fridge.
    Keeps well, covered, for 3–4 days.
