At Afishionado, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.

Afishionado Fishmongers Inc. operates the website at https://afishionado.ca and sells fresh and frozen seafood for delivery and pickup in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

2. What we collect and why
We collect personal information only where we need it to run the store and serve you properly.
Orders
When you place an order we collect your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number, delivery or pickup preferences, and payment details. We use this to process your order, arrange delivery or pickup, send you order confirmations and delivery notifications, and handle any questions or issues afterwards.
We use your phone number to contact you about your order and deliveries. If you have separately opted in, we may also send SMS reminders about upcoming subscription renewals. You can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting your order.
Subscriptions
If you set up a recurring order, we retain your billing and delivery preferences and your chosen delivery interval so that we can process future deliveries and payments. You can pause, skip, change or cancel a subscription at any time from your account.
Accounts
If you create an account we store your email address, password (encrypted, never in readable form), order history, saved addresses and any store credit balance.
Payments
Payments are processed by trusted third-party providers, currently Stripe. We do not store or have access to your full payment card details. Transactions are encrypted and handled in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.
Reviews and forms
If you leave a product review we store the name, email address and content you submit. If you contact us through a form on the site, we store what you send so we can reply.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep your shopping cart working, keep you signed in, remember your delivery area, and understand how visitors use the site.
When you first visit, you will see a notice allowing you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your mind at any time, and you can also manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Declining or blocking certain cookies may affect how parts of the site work, including the cart and checkout.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics 4 and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to understand how visitors use our site and to measure our marketing.
We have enabled the following Google Analytics Advertising Features: Remarketing with Google Analytics, Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting, and Google Display Network Impression Reporting. Our Google Analytics property is linked to our Google Ads account.
To provide these features, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) together with third-party cookies and identifiers (such as Google advertising cookies).
You can turn off ad personalisation at myadcenter.google.com, or stop Google Analytics collecting your data entirely with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can also decline non-essential cookies using the notice shown on your first visit, or through your browser settings. Meta advertising preferences can be managed in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.
3. Who we share your information with
We share personal information only with service providers that are essential to running the store, and only to the extent they need it:

Some of these providers process or store data outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We choose providers that offer appropriate contractual protections for personal information.
4. How long we keep your information

5. Your rights
As a resident of Canada you have rights under applicable privacy legislation, including PIPEDA. You can ask us to:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your personal information, subject to legal and tax obligations that may require us to keep order records
- Withdraw consent for marketing emails or SMS at any time
- Opt out of analytics and advertising features, using the options in section 2
To make a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before releasing information, to make sure we are not disclosing your details to someone else.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
6. Children
Our store is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, and we rely on established providers for payment processing and hosting. Passwords are stored in encrypted form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us and to limit who can access it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. If we make a significant change to how we use your information, we will make that clear rather than relying on the date alone.
