How we got started
Afishionado started in 2014 because we felt the seafood supply chain was rigged against the people at both ends. Too many layers, processors, wholesalers, distributors, and large buyers, each taking their profit cut.
That adds up… fast.
The fishers who do the hard work end up with the smallest piece, and customers end up paying more or getting less quality. We saw that pattern and decided to break it. So we began in Atlantic Canada and built a direct path from the boats and responsible farms straight to your table.

Ocean first
We put the oceans first. We only work with fisheries and farms that actually protect what they take. Traceability matters. We know and show exactly where every piece came from and how it was handled.
We began local and we still are. But the ocean doesn’t stop at the coast, so we source further when the quality holds up and the practices are sound. Supporting the right operations anywhere helps keep the whole system going.
